Guyana constantly faces the dilemma of educating a landmass the size of England with a fraction of the financial and human resources required. In the Rupununi, these institutional difficulties are further exacerbated by a landscape as harsh as it is beautiful, making it difficult for parents and students to access even the most basic scholastic tools.
Through this project, communities are provided with books to create classroom-based libraries, which they build (or refurbish from existing facilities) to house the collection, which is then administered and cared for by teachers and other community members.
The project also assists teachers in accessing textbooks and other reference materials to enhance the classroom environment and make learning more accessible and enjoyable.

In partnership with schools and businesses around Georgetown, Eírîpan hosts drop-off boxes where used and new books and other classroom aids and supplies can be donated.
Be on the lookout for our drop-off locations from November 7, 2024.
